Pierre Huyghe, "The Third Memory"

"Brillo Boxes", Andy Warhol, madeira e serigrafia, 1964

E a pergunta é quase imediata: será arte?

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Talvez porque as religiões - principalmente a católica - atravessem uma crise?

arte.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Por

Not long ago, some friends returned from a trip to Madrid and we got together in a sunny esplanade in Praça do Peixe (actually, we got together at night, but the Praça do Peixe is sunny during the day) to ear the reports from such excursion. Of the many sites they visited the Museo Reina Sofia was one of them. From such conversation I can only retain what one of them said: " The only thin about Guernica is that it's big!"Well, yeah! It's big, alright. With 3,5 meters tall and 7,8 m wide one can say that it is big. However when I told it was a oil paiting on canvas (you know, like the ones we see around, just a little bigger), they showed a little bit more admiration.By habit, we usualy complain about mondays, because of the work and all. But who was on Guernica (because Guernica is a village in Spain, more precisely on the Basque country) on the monday of April 26, at 16:30 (by afternoon snack time, so to speak) did really had something to complain about. It's just that for two hours (that's more than what a football match takes, counting the interval and all) the village was bombed! By the german aviation, that was anxious to try their new modern weapons! For two hours, continuosly. By the Condor Legion, which was commanded by Wolfram von Richthofen (of the von Richthofens from Germany, being one of the most renowned Manfred, by knickname The Red Baron). Picasso imortalized the hapening with the painting now present in Museo Reina Sofia. By the time of the inauguration, in 1937, a german approached him and asked:
"Did you did this?"
"No, you did!" - Picasso replied.

By the table a strange silence was installed wich I couldn't say quite exactly what it meant: they were thinking "Oh, damn' it! Here he comes with his reveries!..."; or did it meant that they were thinking that probably they should have spent more time staring at the painting when they were so close to it...
