Zé Gato

Frankenstein tinha o Igor como assistente. Eu, por outro lado tinha isto:
Frankenstein had Igor as an assistant. I, on the other hand, had this:

Judging by the pose of the pussycat (which denotes its interest!) I think that Frankenstein was better served.

It's Alive, It's Alive!!

It goes for two years now that I've been trying to restore a Vespa (Vespa motorscooter, that is) and after delays and drawbacks (work, family, two winters and, well, other excuses...) I've come to a point where all I wanted to do was to put the machine at work. It's lousily painted, it's lousily tuned, some accesories are missing (and maybe as well as other parts) but... in a beautyful sun shiny winter morning it came to life!

Since my teenage years -when my father offered me my first reflex camera, bought from a ukranian sailor (and therefor the reader will have no difficulty in concluding that the camera would be a Zenit)- that I had not such a material joy.

What did I felt when the Vespa started? Well, I guess pretty much as the following video! (Turn the sound volume high for better impact!)

Arte, arte, arte! / Art, art, art!

Vejamos:

Art can, undoubtedly, take many forms and its teaching, its apprenticeship, likewise. Let's see:

Nevertheless there is another non lesser sublime "Nude Descending Stairs" ("Nu Descendant un Escalier") from another accredited artist, Duchamp of its name. It´s the one that followes:

For the lesser knower reader doesn't get to sad pay attention to the following image. I´m sure you will then see the painting presented above in a different way (althoug some of its mystery and fascination can possibly now dissapear).

(The title of this last image is none other than "Duchamp Descending Stairs").

Nova Abridura / New Opening (Aperture) (*)

I'm back, as promised.
News: this blog will count on two official languages from now on (portuguese and english), keeping an eye on internationalization, and all... ; I find myself in a test fase in a joint partnership with Radio Terra Nova broadcast station, beeing the object of that partnership the production of a weekly cartoon for that entity, to be published on it's online site (you should have already noticed that there's a link to the so called Radio station since the very beginning of this blog, that's right).
And so, this is the message, desguised as welcome note.
A good year to everyone!

(*) I'm afraid there's no direct translation. Abridura is jargon but it's a synonym for opening or aperture.
